Jets plan on resuming beer sales next season

New York Jets (NFL) fans were in for a rude awakening at the team's season finale at Giants Stadium: the team and Meadowlands officials decided not to sell beer at the stadium. No announcement was made before the game in order to prevent fans from drinking heavily in the parking lot.

The move was done in response to male fans harassing female fans at Gate D, urging the women to expose their breasts. (Interestingly, the same behavior never happens at Giants games.) The practice continued even after stadium officials fully staffed Gate D with security guards and police officers.

The beer ban seems to have worked: Gate D was relatively quiet, but also at play was a disappointing crowd for the Jets' finale -- only 45,000 fans bothered to show up. Jets officials say be back selling beer next season, as the team has several months to figure out a long-term solution to any problems with Gate D.
